The Bridgewater Municipal Court has jurisdiction over and DWI, disorderly persons offenses,traffic tickets,. This includes traffic offenses such as DWI, speeding, reckless driving, driving without insurance, driving while suspended and other motor vehicle infractions. In addition, Bridgewater Municipal Court will hear disorderly persons offenses including drug offenses (possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia), criminal mischief, simple assault, and other title 2C violations.
The Bridgewater Township Municipal Court is presided over by Hon. William T. Kelleher, Jr. He received his law degree from Seton Hall University and has been a member of the ABA since 1977. He has served on the bench since January 1, 2012.
Many busy roadways traverse Bridgewater, including Route 78, Route 287, Route 22, Routes 202/206, and Route 28. This means a lot of traffic stops, which lead to traffic violations and DWIs. The municipal courthouse in Bridgewater typically hears 20 disorderly persons complaints, plus over 150 traffic tickets & DWI charges weekly.
